For various reasons, they are unable to live at home.

This is a social welfare facility where children aged 15 to 20 live.

What is an independent living support home?

Have you heard of a social welfare facility called an "independent living support home"?

An independent living support home is a facility where children aged 15 to 20 (up to 22 in some cases) who have difficulty living at home for some reason live. After leaving the facility, the children who live in this facility will become independent in society.

Our organization's representative has actually worked in an independent living support home, and believes that one of the advantages of an independent living support home is that it is neither too small nor too large. The most common independent living support home has a capacity of six people, and this size allows for proper attention to each child and also provides an opportunity for them to meet other children in the same situation. And because "independence" is the main theme, staff members provide support by respecting the children's own judgment while lending a hand when necessary. We believe there is a need and value in the "independence support home" format.

However, there is not a single independent living support home in the northern area of Tochigi Prefecture. When we learned of this situation, we thought, "Perhaps the northern part of the prefecture also needs the option of an independent living support home." And so, with the desire to "provide a new option in the form of an independent living support home for children in the northern part of the prefecture!", we decided to establish "Nicoto Independence Support Home . "
